The new facebook design layout has launched with more than 100 million users switched to the new design. The changes are inspired by the feedback from the users about the trend of people submerging the internet by allocation their thought, photos and video. Facebook new design also gives advantages such as easier to ‘pull and push’ the information in the form of bite-size content rather quickly. It also has a popular mini application such as “walls” and “graffiti”.
However, there are bunch of people who hates the new facebook design. Some users make a “who hates the new facebook format” group, and its contain many complains and they asked to bring back the ‘old’ format of facebook. According to Fulton (2009), the new facebook format is non user-friendly and total confusing. It is because of the difficulty to see the differences between a note and wall posting, they both emerging in a same spot. In the other hands, facebook costumer recognizes about the complaining and they believe that usres will feel the new design is useful when they becoming familiar with the new design and features.
According to Grunwald (2009), a good web design should have a clear purpose, knowing the intended audience, have a structured site, easy to navigate and keep the site current. Kyrnin also have the same opinion about a good web design, a good layout has to be efficient as must be contained some characteristic such as unity, balance, proportion, emphasis, and sequence. In my opinion about this facebook issue, the change that made is not really ‘non user-friendly’, it’s good for improving the utility of the facebook itself. Even though, many users still not accepted the new format of facebook.
